Opatija – A Munich institution.
The savory Mediterranean family restaurant.
With 2 locations in the heart of the city.

The success story of the Opatija restaurant began in 1960 in Briennerstrasse 41. It was here in this "Original Opatija" (which at the time was a hot spot for the Munich theatre, film, and media scene, and a meeting place for well-known figures including Franz Beckenbauer, Walter Sedlmeier, Helmut Fischer, and Udo Jürgens) that owner Ralf Faltermeier developed his successful gastro-concept.

Premium dishes in satisfying portions offered at an unbeatable price!

That is the motto of established Chef, Faltermeier (who is, incidentally, the brother of composer and two-time Grammy winner, Harold Faltermeier). The story continues and from 1990 to 2006, Opatija moved from the Briennerstrasse address to an "intermezzo"on the Viktualienmarkt, and then in 2006 to Hochbrückenstrasse 3 (Opatija Im Tal). After the incredible success of Opatija Im Tal, there was a return to the former home of Opatija, but this time to the newly renovated Viktualienmarkt Passage for the opening of the second Opatija restaurant, Opatija am Alten Peter. And so it was that from one "promi meeting place" came the evolution of two congenial family restaurants with a large following of devoted guests. Be amazed by the culinary dishes, the cozy atmosphere, and the friendly service as you visit the following pages of the website – or better yet, visit the restaurant and see for yourself.
